WHAT IS IT?
Brown water shipping refers to the navigable inland or coastal waters such as rivers, canals, and estuaries.
This type of shipping often is done with vessels such as barges, tugs, and ferries which are designed to navigate shallow waters and inland waterways.
SECTOR GOALS
Promote and foster a culture of safety among seafarers by addressing regulatory compliance including those of local, state, and federal standards.
Develop partnerships between employers and education providers to help ensure the workforce meets the needs of the industry.
Develop and share targeted recruitment and retention strategies to incentivize the potential and current workforce.
